Honeydew melons are round to oval in shape and somewhat larger than usual melons. The Honeydew melon has a smooth and firm outer rind that turns from green to whitish yellow as it matures, transforming it from very hard and smooth to a slight stickiness. Once a Honeydew melon is picked, it may soften but can no longer get any sweeter. Honeydew melon is a good source of vitamins C and B6 as well as potassium and fiber.
Honeydews are delcious eaten on their own when fresh and ripe, but can also be used in salads or turned into a juice.
