The Valencia Orange is medium to large in size, usually an average 7-10 centimeters in diameter, and is round to oval in shape. The thin outer rind of a Valencia Orange is golden orange with a rough, leathery texture that contains fragrant essential oils. Unlike clementines, the outer skin of the valencia Orange is a little tougher to peel. Once you do get to the yellow-orange flesh underneath, it is tender and extremely juicy. Valencia oranges are an excellent source of vitamin C, fiber, and folate. They also contain antioxidants that help boost immunity.
Valencia oranges are mainly used for their juice which is fantastically sweet and flavorful. Valencia oranges’ juice can be used for marinades, syrups, vinaigrettes, cocktails, custards, or to flavor sauces for cooked meat dishes.
